Introduction

We provide high quality water activities tours and place the safety and wellbeing of our students and teachers at the centre of our planning. We understand that schools need to fully understand our safety policies and procedures before booking and we will work with you to ensure that all the information you require is made available.

British Standard 8848

All of our tours conform to the British Standard 8848:2014 - Specification for the provision of visits, fieldwork, expeditions and adventurous activities outside the United Kingdom. 

Water Activities

Water based activities come with the obvious inherent risks. Where water is concerned the risks can't be totally removed, however they can be managed and protocols implemented in how, who, where the activities are operated. Our water based activities are operated on 3 types of bodies of water - Inland, coastal (sea) & river.

Nationally recognised Qualified Instructors

All of our organised water activities are led by qualified instructors, that have been trained and qualified to the National Governing Bodies (NGB) standards in France. We have benchmarked these standards against the RYA and BCU standards within the UK.

Risk Assessments

Covering all aspects of your trip, we are committed to providing you with all the help and support required for you to carry out risk assessments efficiently. We don't wait to be asked, on confirming your booking, you will have immediate access to overall risk assessments for your trip. These can be downloaded from your personal and secure booking in S.A.M.  Once you have finalised your itinerary, we will provide an updated final risk assessment that is unique to your trip prior to departure.

Safety Management System

Our safety management system consists of the four main components shown in the diagram which is summarised in the downloadable document below. 

We are happy to answer any questions you have and/ or liaise directly with your outdoor advisors (OEAP).  Our full Safety Management System document can be provided on request.

Safeguarding

The welfare of every group member is of paramount importance to us. As such True North Travel has a comprehensive safeguarding policy including identification of and recognising signs, our procedures and code of practice. True North Travel employees are aware of the policy and work within the guidelines and code of practice. True North Travel has a dedicated Safeguarding officer. A copy of the full safeguarding document is available on request and available within your trip page as part of your important documents.
